Ok, I just wrote up a quick driver to connect my Polk XRt12 to my HA/HT PC setup. [see sig for the screenshots - and yes, the XM buttons are ugly and there's almost no stations there, but I'm in-progress, so not done yet].

The Polk protocol requires that the unit be on in order to connect! As in, I'm going to have to leave this thing on 24x7 in order to make it work.

I'd have bought one of the nicer mfrs with a richer protocol, but this was only $200, the others were much more. The wife didn't understand why I wanted XM in the first place, no way was I going to be able to get $400-$1000 by her.

Thats the downfall to the polk in my findings, If you use 232 there is no ower and if you use IR you have discrete power but loose the FB part

Just leave it on all the time and you will be fine
or use the 12V trigger for the power when using 232

Why wouldn't you use the 12volt trigger?

There's a 12V trigger?

I forget about the 12V trigger on the back for power.

The last one I did had no trigger in the rack for the polk so I forgot it was there since

My bad!!

Gary: In your review of the XRt12 you found that the unit responds to the channel up/down commands from the Delphi tuner. Any particular Delphi model or it is the same for all of them?

The commands for the Skyfi XM radio, they're in the RTI and Crestron databases.

Well I would suggest the 12V trigger, but as far as leaving it on all the time, if you do, it will loose its memory buffer. The unit (from what I understand all digital radio's) need to be power cycled every 24 hrs. If I am incorrect on this someone correct me.

In the database for the Delphi piece and the XRt12 there A and B codes. Would this mean that they use toggling IR codes?

YES.

If you have the latest firmware, you can just use the A codes.
