Hey folks, I am new to the site, and looking for anyone with Russound expertise. New install and my keypads display the message: No Cont

Anyone have any idea what that means, I have redone the connections a couple of times, but the fact that they all say that leads me to believe it is something other than the physical wire.

Thanks

Sounds like a wiring format issue.

When you make your RJ45's you've got to be very careful to get it right.

Brown,
Brown/White,
Orange,
Blue/White,
Blue,
Orange/White,
Green,
Green/White.

At the keypad it's pretty well labeled, so that end shouldn't be a problem.

It caught me off guard at frst as well, as the wiring scheme isnt the one Im used to, and its not the same as the normal cat5 jumpers.

However, I didnt get a no connection error, it just didnt have audio. Would power on for a few seconds, display the version of firmware, and thats it. I re-checked the wiring, and realized it wasnt the normal scheme I was used to. Fixed it, and that took care of it.

Frank that wiring is T568B if you read it from bottom to top as 1-8.

So wouldnt you consider 568B and 568A "normal" wiring stabdards? My "I dont get it" comment relates to Kelly's comments on "NORMAL" wiring, and the referneces to Wesley.

At Remote Central, Wesley was pontificating about a wiring standard that drew a little bit of criticism. Wesley responded a bit sharply.....

I propose that EVERYONE in the entire world use the exact same wiring format (designed by me of course).

Wow, that was easy wasn't it?

Now there will be world peace.........

Only if we can pay you a royalty each time we use your standard, Ken.

Where should I send the check?

What a coincidence! I just sent a check to that bank. See, there was this guy in Nigeria who needed help getting some money his dad had left him after a revolution....
