Today i fielded a service call on a 7205 we installed about 3 months ago. This is the 2nd unit in about a year that the buld has total exploded within the projector - all with less than 100 hours on it...

Anyone else having any problems? We just picked up a new line "Digital Projection" - unfortunitly they do not have a product to fill the SP5700 price point.

YES, we have one customer that has had two bulbs crap out with around 60 hours on each one that crapped out, and Infocus was really cool about it the second time around, they sent us a new projector, and so far so good, no call backs yet. It is really weird though, Infocus is our only FP and we have sold tons of them, and no problems except for this one client. I have a feeling that if it happens again their may be some electrical issues that are the root if the problem.

What may be needed is what is often called a "datalogger", or an "event recorder", like what the power company will use if there's a strong-enough complaint about voltage variations. It's a simple chart recorder that shows the voltage over time.

I can get simple ones in the $200-300 range.

We have had lamp issues with the lower end X1, 4800, and 4805, and color wheel problems in the 5700 (Two bad in 4 months in the same projector). I have only 2 7200's in the field with absolutely no problems yet...knock on wood.

I just had a 5000 crap out within 30 days of installation. Infocus was good and RA'd the product. However, I spent over an hour on hold with them each time that I called.

I have installed a total of 5 with no problems of about 20. 15 failed. One with a bad jack panal, the rest were lamp, light engine problems, and color wheel problems. We are currently looking into epson, sharp, and Sim2.

Funny,

The Infocus units I've installed have given no problems at all (SP110 and SP5700), and the one Sharp I used (9000) went belly up after a short 10 minute bench test.

I will say that Sharp handled it pretty well. Sent the unit in for repair/replace, and got it back within a week.

We've never had any problems with the InFocus products.

All installations are 100%

Are you guys opening the thing up or something?

When I was in the presentation business I saw many an InFocus go dead, always right before show time of course. Keeps me kind of leary of using them any more. We used mostly Sharps and Sanyo's, but I have never used either one of those lines in a theater. The Sim2's have worked great for us in the theater enviroment. But I do have one project with an InFocus that has not given us any problems.

I have numerous infocus projectors in the field and have never had a problem. We use the 5700 as our demo unit in our showroom and it runs 8 hours a day 5 days a week. We have had it for almost a year and have had no problems. We also use DWIN and have had 1 Transvision3 die. DWIN was ccool about it and sent us a replacement

In the past we have been really pleased with the performance of the infocus projectors. Recently we have installed 2 7500's and 1 7210 and all 3 of them the clients are complaining of excessive noise. We are now considering another projector option...Any suggestions in the same price range?

I really liked the Dream vision at CEDIA. Decent price vs performance. Dreamy is a great entry level.

Same problem here. We're thinking about picking up Sim2.

Very nice stuff, not exactly in the same price range as infocus.

There-in lies the problem providing a solution to our clients in that price range.

The InFocus projectors have been great accept for the cotton pickin' lamp assembly recently. Maybe it's the humidity? :?...snicker...

Not a personal endorsement but I have a rep that keeps trying to get me to look at http://www.mitsubishi-hometheater.com/ as a entry level projector line.

Has anyone tried out any of the Liesgang product?

I have used knoll (infocus rebadged) for the last 3 years and we only had failure 3 times
SP7200 color wheel replaced free
SP5000 lamp after 200 hours replaced free
SP4805 lamp after 400 hours replaced free

we have in the field I would guess around 60 units with no problems plus we have 4805, 5000,7205 and 7210 on display in the showroom running 8 to 10 hours daily six days a week.
I am very happy with thier line and prices.
I used to deal with Dream Vision but had to stop because of the prices (euro), replacment lamp cost now around 600$ to 900$.

Thank you for your welcome.

some of the best installation we did we couldn't take picture from them as the owner declined this.

In higher end installation I used Qualia once and Runco through their dealer in Saudi.
I was checking the SIM2 line but didn't carry it, the market here is strange since you handle the whole line and through distributor for items like projectors and speakers.

We just did a ddv2500 for a friend of mine who owns a bar in Beaver Creek. They are using it for thier late night crowd. I thought the image was close to the 7205 except it is 2500 lumen. I have to say, so far I am impressed for a lower end projector. We are dropping infocus for Liesegang.

They also are not easily found on the net, and carry a better margin than lostfocus. 1/3 the noise of the 7210 we "HAD" in the showroom.

Liesegang have new models for HT called e.motion 4100 with 1000 lumen and 5500:1 CR which should be great for HT.

What I like about Liesegang is their 6 months or 1000 hour lamp warranty.

they have also Smoke Resistant Box for their projectors, with their wide line I am considering them as well.
