View Full Version : Has anyone used the Netstreams Panorama 4X6 matrix?

I am thinking of spec'ing this into a job where we need to get one HD component source and possible one progressive component source to 10 displays over Cat5.

I would rather not do a conventional distribution amp and 10 pairs of baluns and this netstreams deal sounds like it would work out perfectly by chaining two PAN6400 units together, BUT it is new and I have never used a netstreams product.

Give me some thoughts as to whether it is worth the time of picking up a unit and testing it in the shop.

Thanks.

Here is a link to the data sheet http://www.netstreams.com/Documents/Panorama%20PAN6400%20and%20VP500.pdf

Oh, and to clarify, this product will be used as a stand alone video matrix and will be the only NetStreams product used in the house (the rest is B&K and RTI).

Wow.... silence.

I thought at least Rick would have something to say about one of his products.

Why not use the B&K HD6?

I didn't know it was released yet and the projected price was much higher than I can get the NetStreams piece for.

Might do a search for the piece on here. I think EJ posted some thoughts about it when it was introduced recnetly. (First good, then not so good?)

Why not use the B&K HD6?

Have you actually played with one in the field yet?? Looks very promising...

Having done a bunch of Crestron Cat5 distribution systems over the past few months, I still say having NO audio capabliity renders this thing useless (in my opinion).

I need to look into the B&K thingy...

Hmmm, what the hell are you supposed to do with the cat5 at the TV end?

Take it back, they talk about a breakout box, but I can't see it anywhere on the site?

http://www.bkcomp.com/pdf/hd6/hd6_2page_doc.pdf At any rate, that could be a good piece when you use distributed speakers with a TV in a zone. But without audio I still dont see how it could work to feed a local surround sound system or even a TV on a wall where you want to use the TV speakers?
