Neutral and Hot Switched

I was wondering what symptoms you would get if you had the neutral and hot switched on an outlet for, say, a projector? Would it work, would you have a hum pattern because of the neutral being grounded at the main power transformer for that part of the grid? Just curous. TIA Larry.

Some pieces don't care at all, while some do. There's no one answer, except to make the polarity correct; it can't ever hurt.
