Just a heads up I know that a lot of homes are getting Vonage and other VOIP services. Typically you have to "sign up" for 911 service. Sometimes you don't get local response centers. If you do get a response center your address info is not accessible. Voonage and Rhode Island offer E911 but they are the only state. Its not the VOIP service providers fault its because the phone companies own the hardware for 911 info. Thought I'd let people know as this Houston Family didn't know and couldn't call 911 when someone broke into their home. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/tech/news/3054952

Not that I've ever needed 911, but I was looking at VoIP service, and now I'm reconsidering. At least for now. Thanks for the heads up

You can use 911 with Vonage, in the setup, you have to enter the
local 7 or 10 digit number for the police and fire, etc... into the modem. If you carry your vonage to different houses, ( we have a client who does) you must change the emergency service numbers.
