Whether you are for or against the adoption of 3-D TVs, there is a report to bolster your opinion.

Hey, content and hardware are on the upswing!!! (http://www.homemediamagazine.com/3-d/3d-experts-see-content-hardware-upswing-23436)

Also, additional content through new broadcast options are driving 3-D (http://www.homemediamagazine.com/3-d/broadcast-driving-3dtv-adoption-23265)...

oh wait....

A reseach firm says TV pricing and the glasses are still keeping people from adopting 3-D technology (http://www.homemediamagazine.com/3d/npd-price-glasses-continue-thwart-3dtv-adoption-23611).

I think that 3-D is garish and distracting, and takes away from the experience rather than adding to it.

What say you?

3D is cool for SOME movies, but all in all I prefer to not watch in 3D...and the reality of it is the video display manufactures are bridging the gap in the "next great thing" with 3D and before we hang panels like a poster or picture, or paint it on the wall, or whatever they are working on...they ran out of new tech to offer and had to come up with something....

that's my .02

+ 1. I think the best article on 3D was the one by roger ebert where he reprinted a letter from the guy that produced apocalypse now (I can't think of his name right now). He explained the reason 3D is so distracting is it is trying to trick the brain out of six million years of evolution. I think I found that article here. If it wasnt here it was rc

3D sucks monkey ass. While it may be cool every now and again no way in hell would I ever consider watching tv with those stupid glasses. I can't even wear sunglasses when outside really dislike wearing glasses inside! Not to mention 3d hurts my eyes and gives me headaches.

But I will sell the shit out of it if that's what people want!

I found out what 3d is all about yesterday. Previously had the same attitude as Ed. GAMING GAMING GAMING! That is the real reason for 3D. Movies blow in 3D but you must experience video games in 3D. Those of you on my FB saw a pic of a new UN55D7000 flushed in an entertainment system. It was amazingly COOL!

Between 3D Gaming and the fact that the majority of the big sports networks are getting behind it, the only thing left that will ensure 3D becomes mainstream will be if Porn starts producing new content. (and yes I am old enough to remember prison girls in 3D).

I find it can be cool to watch the occasional thing in 3D, but most of what is produced, or at least I have seen so far is not done well enough.
Too many 3D images are a strain to watch, some neat effects but far too often I feel like my eyes are trying to go in different directions.

Coppola.

And I agree. I was the one who started the rumor that 3-D caused cancer of the eyeball.

I think that Ebert is just agreeing with me, they all copy me y'know.

I have to agree that I am not a big fan of 3D, but mainly because of shutter glasses. I am one of those people that has incredible periferal vision and can't get past the shutter that my eyes pickup and saw toothing I see in projected pictures. I did take a look at the LG with passive glasses that are 10 bucks and found that it was a hell of a lot more confortable to watch 3D. I am eager to see the LG projector in a week or so at the rep firm and am hoping that a passive 3D projector doesn't have the saw toothing.

I have the wrong movie then. It wasnt Coppola.

Found the article. Had the movie right, but wrong title. It was walter Murch that edited Apocalypse Now. I also found the article.
