Also in the new CE retailer was a full page ad from everyone's friend, DirecTV. They touted their website retailer.directv.com, where you can sign up and be their buddy:

"Yes. We understand what a custom retailer needs. We can deliver."

Among the bulleted highlights - "Discrete IR commands (232 will be enabled spring 2007)." Hmmm.

This will be a big selling point. They can be turned off. This will hurt Comcast. HA!

While they claim to have the discreets. Myself and another installer were able to prove to them at CEDIA that the codes for the H20 / HR20 are not actually available. I'm working with some of the folks at D*TV and Xantech to get the codes out in a usable form.

It felt kind of funny explaining to their engineers that simply providing the function code as part of their RS-232 protocol was not enough to generate the proper IR codes.

I did find a discrete for one of there Mpeg 4 boxes (Sorry don't remember the Model number) I think that it might be the H20. Its Code set 173 on the URC IR Database. The problem I ran into was the homeowner kept complaining that every time he turned the system on went to the guide and there was no data and took a little while information to come back into the guide.

Are you guys saying you dont have discrete power for the H-20?

I did an H-20 last week w a T1, and had no problem getting discrete power commands. Had them at my store as well on the H-10.

This Power On code had work for me with the H20:

0000 0048 007F 0002 0157 0044 0044 0044 0022 0022 0044 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0044 0044 0044 0022 0022 06EB 00AB 0044 0044 0044 0022 0022 0044 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0044 0044 0044 0022 0022 06EB 00AB 0044 0044 0044 0022 0022 0044 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0022 0044 0044 0044 0022 0022 4214 0478 00E4 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 0039 01CC 00E4 00E4 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 0039 01CC 00E4 00E4 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 0039 01CC 00E4 00E4 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0039 001C 0072 001C 0072 001C 0039 001C 0072

I haven't try the power Off code since I leave the receivers always on but here it goes:

The people from DIRECTV that you were talking to at CEDIA were probably from the Sales Division. And they don't have a clue about technical issues.

These codes were extracted from the RTI Database Mega Code List 11 under DIRECTV/Discrete Power/H10 Discrete Power 2.

I've attempted to use the H-10 codes in the past with the H-20 recievers without any success. I'll try again with the new run of boxes we are set to receiver later this week. Perhaps there was a change along the way that solved the problem without my knowledge.

I think I remember reading in the descrete code forum on RC that those models have to have a specific firmware version or higher in order to get the comands to work.
