Anybody have any recomendations for an IP outdoor camera? I know that Panasonic makes a model, but we don't need the built in mike capability.

So does Toshiba and Sony and Axis, But what is the application and let's see if you can get the right camera with the best lens for the job.

Client wants to watch his pool and his garage when he is out of town. The pool is about 20 ft from the camera location, and the garage is about 100 ft. We can only pull cat-5 to a network switch, as whoever wired his home the first time did not home run the sec cameras. We need to connect all the cameras to a networked DVR.

The networked DVR throws me off a little hear. Do you already have the DVR?

Not yet, we are taking over an install that was pre-wired by an installer who died. The additon is compleated, and there was no wire run for the cameras, but there is a cat 5 going back to the network. We need 2 cameras from this location going back.

If you have Cat5 pairs going the right way I would just use those, there are few IP cameras to pick from that do well in low light and all of them cost. For half the money you can get a quality analog D/N and a balun for the UTP.

Of course that assumes they have a 10/100 network, if it's gigabit you're stuck with IP. If they wired it 568A use the blue and brown pairs, if they wired it B I would just repunch it.

You would need another power supply locally to do 2 cameras that way.
