I have a Gerber Legend for general use.
I like the fact I can attach almost any type of rasp or saw blade.

What models do you guys have?

I have the standard leatherman Blast in my laptop bag that I use all the time for quick little changes when I am finishing up the programming.

My Leatherman Wave is on my belt whenever I have clothes on, and I honestly use it every day.

You can't beat the fact that you can open a blade without having to open the tool. I have also had to get one repaired, sent it in and a week later I had a brand new tool.

I'm on my third one now because I can't stop leaving these things in attics and such... knives and sunglasses, they keep mocking me.

On a second note, when I first saw the Paladin power play tools, I thought they would kick all other tools asses, until I saw one in person and held it. The things are HUGE and heavy.

The Paladin Looks to be the size of My Gerber, but the tool covers that fold out are a turn-off for me. I would hate that when holding the tool.

The Leatherman Blast looks to be a nice mid-sized tool. I will have to get one in my hands to check it out!

You guys have some good input on the multitools so far. Any others?

I've used almost all of the older vintage Leatherman tools, and settled on the Super Tool 200. The guys at work all prefer the Wave, but I still like the 200. I'll have to check out the Blast...

I have had a SOG for about 3 years now. Probably needs to be sharpened at this point but still going strong. Only thing I have broken so far is the file, I tried to pry a hole saw plug out with it in an attic.

I know this post is dormant, but thought I would add my 2 cents. I carry a Leatherman Wave everyday, and use it virtually everyday. No Robertson screw bit, but one of the straight bits will turn a #2 unless its torqued tight. Philips bit has held up pretty good. Leatherman warranty is top notch as well - I broke my first one when I was in Portland (where their HQ is), walked in and literally didnt finish my introductory sentence before I was handed a new one.

I also have a Leatherman Crunch which has a perfectly usable vicegrip on it (although it takes 2 hands to open and prepare for use). And a CRKT knife for everyday use.

I've had an SOG PowerPlier for about 7 years now, and I too use it EVERY day. All those times when I've been up in a ceiling or somewhere I didn't want to have to get out of just to get a screwdriver or knife etc..

The cool thing is that it's a compound leverage version so you get twice the squeeze with normal effort. I broke the jaw once and had a new one within a week!

Awesome tool!!!

Rob.

Gerber makes the best, hands down. Don't leave home without it! Their customer support is fantastic; I've sent multitools back to them for repair and they always come back with a new sheath. Can't beat the one-handed opening.

Time for a thread update. Has anyone used one of these?

Take a look at the nice little wire strippers built-in.

I have one with the stripper and one with the scissors. I like them for a quick tool, but I wouldn't use them 8 hours a day

Yes, That is true! I was looking at a couple stuffed into multiple locations as a backup or emergency tool. This is small enough to put on your key ring. How has yours held up?

My stripper is about 6 months old, so far no problems. The scissors are about 1 month old and so far I cut shrink & techflex with no problems.

I've got the Paladin/SOG 510 and 540. I carry the 510 on a daily basis, and the 540 for actual installs, because of its size. The 510 is good, except they don't lock very well, and the screwdriver bit has folded up a couple times. Having the punch down on me at all times has actually come in handy, as well as the wire strippers. If I don't see a large use out of the 540 by the end of this year, I'll probably just sell it and try the 525 as an in-between with a lot of the function of the 540, but the better usage of the 510.

I was carrying my Paladin, but have switched back to the Core. Now that it is worked in a little, I've been very happy with it. The blade seems to be staying sharper longer than the older Leathermen I've had.
