I have a customer who want to control his iTunes on his computer via his Xantech MRC44. I was wondering if there was an interface for iTunes? Can the MRC44 control the iTuners via RS232? Thanks

someone on RC was saying they integrated itunes/ipod with crestron so it is possible. http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-custom/thread.cgi?keywords=5769&highlight=crestron|ipod

I couldn't find any information on how to do it though. You could always use this http://www.keyspan.com/ remote control but its not rs232.[/url]

these guys have some modules for their software if you know anything about programing you might be able to figure out a way to use it?

There are a number of Crestron modules around. How useful a Crestron module will be with non-Crestron devices is an other matter to be considered. Sonance has a serial protocol on its web site or what ever they are calling their IPod division. Someone sent it to me and it looks quite potent--although you will need to understand IPod speak to use it. I'll add a few links when I am back at the office. How useful this will be with a Xantech I have zero idea.

Then there is the matter of IPod using special connectors requring a break out cable and non standard serial voltages. Hopefully, someone on your staf knows how to build a circuit to increase those voltages. Not supposed to be all that difficult but then anything is easy when you have the knowledge and/or the ability. Right now Sonace seems to have the best off the shelf solutions ( for non Crestron products ) but I prefer the Integra docking station Tom wrote about. Supposed the Sonance folks have one in the works but I have received my Integra finally ( unidirectional and IR only via an Integra receiver ).
