This deal with fail - they used synergies in their press release.

They are a mess right now. Just went to order a Mini to add to an existing system.
Allnet says I need go to reseller sight and put in everything. So I do that for 15 minutes and hit SUBMIT.
The site comes back with "there is already an account associated with this address".
"no shit" I say out loud to my dumb computer monitor.
Now anything on the site after I log in shows a Error: Error occurred while loading a Visualforce page.
force.com platform page error.

I cannot believe they are so messed up right now, especially as they go to show the new system at CEDIA.

I finally got an email from the new 'rep' that TiVo has assigned to the Southeast (after discontinuing all distributors). Company I have never heard of, person I have never heard of.

Comcast has effectively killed any new TiVo installations in my area = by having stock of old cable cards that are all defective. They know it, won't replace them. I have had a few Comcast techs verify what I already knew but there is noway they would ever go on record to say that. FCC mandated people can get their own cable boxes but didn't mandate the cable cards - which all the boxes need. Comcast refuses to allow people to get their own cable cards, so they found a loophole to effectively kill this.
If they haven't started doing this in your area, look for it in the future when they get enough defective cards to cover the issue.

The TiVo OTA box was a great new product, that is in hot demand. From the other thread: TiVo has stated they will not allow dealers to carry it. "Not enough margin" they say! But yet Best Buy and Amazon are selling them.
This is the 3rd-4th time in the last 15 years, that TiVo has fucked small dealers. I've had enough - fuck TiVo! Can't really sell it anymore around here anyway.

I ran out of fingers and toes to count the number of stupid buzz words in the press release. Instead I reached for my barf bag.

WOW! Even Steve Wymer (Head of Communication for TiVo) said:

“But we’ve seen the power of … the Comcast lobby and Time Warner and others, and they’ve squelched this.”

But the threshold almost certainly would mean the end of TiVo as a set-top box alternative. It’s U.S. sales wouldn’t meet the bar, Wymer said.
