Hello,

Well my question is very straight, what music server supports internet stations in the .ram format?

I have a custommer that doesn't want to listen to his BBC radio 3 on the computer but using a music server, I use Escient and Olive music servers in my designs but they don't support .ram... any suggestions?

I have never found any way to listen to BBC radio other than through a web browser. If anyone knows how, this would be handy...

I've never done this, but I've heard you can do it with a slimserver squeezebox with this http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/.

The Roku will play .ram files (real media player). I don't know what you are controlling it with but it can be interfaced with AMX and Crestron pretty eassily.

If you are controlling via Crestron, I would go with the Squeezebox over the Roku.

I've heard the best things about the squeezbox i'll try it with the AlienBBC plugin and see what happens,

I'll most likely use control4 and control it through IR, has anybody done it before?

Thanks,

It looks like the Cambridge Audio 640H can play BBC internet radio files (I would hope so, since it is from a British company): http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/assets/documents/Radio(2).pdf

It can be controlled via RS232 or IR, if needed. It also serves as very nice sounding CD player, having the 640C built in.

The squeezbox would be my second choice, since it has a much lower margin :o

I've setup a Squeezebox as a source on a multi-room audio system for a client so he can listen to any of the BBC feeds. Works like a charm and you don't need a music server just a PC on the LAN for the proxy agent, but it will work without the PC connected.
