AHEM

We get called to this house today for a second meeting to try to figure out an again distributed audio system.
Here's the drill:
BIG house built in the early 70's
Initially had a Nutone POS throughout
7 years ago, the previous owner paid a local competitor to update it
New owner called us to update the updating
We found that one room, which was finished in 1" thick rough sawn cedar, initially had Nutone speakers in it, but 7 years ago was fitted with a new Jamo speakers.
The "installers" (and I use that term loosely) had cut out the old opening for a new, larger Jamo speaker
They used the existing 20 gauge solid, mono wire instead of pulling new ones. Everything was twisted and taped together. Sometimes it wasn't even taped!
At one point, it looks as if they'd taken a sawzall to the cedar and accidentally cut through a 10/3 high voltage wire. What did they do? Hire an electrician to fix it? Alert the owner and tell him to bill them for the repair?
NOOOOOOOO. They BUTT SPLICED the 10/3 right behind the Jamo in-wall. My guy removed the speaker and nearly got the shock of his life from the damn thing.
How do I know that it was them who did it? Because they're NAME is printed all over the miniscule amount of new wire that they ran Oh yeah, they're still in business and claiming to do the world's finest installation work, or something along those lines.
Oh, I almost forgot. They're CEDIA certified.
