How do you like the Vantage Point UFO? I've used a few of them and have been pretty pleased with the ease in which they mount. The only gripe is that they stick off of the wall a bit further then some.

Oh wait, one more gripe. The first one that I used didn't come with the correct screws for the JVC pro plasmas. After two trips to the hardware store, I found the correct metric thread size and contacted Jerry at Vantage Point with the info.

They now ship with the screws to fit JVC's and I feel like I've for once contributed something positive to society.

Very nice Brad.

Here's one of mine.

http://usera.imagecave.com/puffer1968/work/Gerdingsmall014.jpg

Client supplied RCA Plasma, 5 Sonance Merlots, Sonance sun of the sub, Integra 7.4, DVDM-100, Fireball E40, MC2W and ML500 for control.

The rest of the apartment includes two CT1000s that control second zone audio from the receiver, HAI security, HVAC and lighting, and a dedicated 5.1 surround-36" Tube-ML500 for the kids gaming system.

Cabling going down under the flooring and then back up to equipment??

Very cool design idea for a loft with an open floor plan.

What's up with the speaker and display allignment. Is it just the angle of the photo or are the speakers evenly spaced and is the display shifted slightly towards the right?

I'm just quibbling because I'm jealous....first Mexico and now Oregon!

Here's a room we just finished. I had to jack the brightness and contrast way up on the picture to see the screen and speakers. I am going back with a 'real' camera for marketing pics next week.

92 inch Da-Lite auto screen hidden behind soffit. Dreamweaver Dreamy 480p PJ, Furman AC210 PJ conditioner; Mid Atl ERK rack with castor base; Marantz 7500 receiver and 6500 DVD, DVDA, SACD; Furman Elite conditioner; NHT M5 fronts, MHT U2 Subs, NHT L5 rear speakers; Graffik EYE lights, MX850/300 remote; Berkline chairs. CARA CAD room design and speaker locations; Acoustic treatments to be added in 6 months.

I think thats it.

The speakers are centered, the wall plates aren't. Studs didn't line up on the screen wall.

No measurements until after the treatments. Sounds pretty good now.

Yes, the dreamy has no lens shift so I had to use a bit of keystone. They didn't want to spend the money on a big dollar PJ. Oh well.

Looks pretty good.

I would have added studs in the wall to get the boxes behind the speakers. Or at least put in a 2x4 horizontally and then had the box horizontal.

What is the screen height from the floor to bottom? If you had any extra drop you could drop the screen a couple of inches and then get rid of the keystone.

Will you be adding a hush box around the projector and furman AC-215?
Personally, I don't like seeing the AC-215 mounted there.

Not trying to be mean/rude just making personal observations. Somebody tell me how you are posting the pictures and I'll post a few for you guys to rip apart

Robbie, I think I see a large metal tube going up from the corner of the structure. I bet that's how the cables are getting there!?

Hey Brad I see it now. I didn't notice it while viewing on my laptop screen. I guess I didn't have the angle just right.

ejfiii

Just like you're not trying to be mean or rude, I'm not trying to be defensive.

A few points.

1. I am sure you noticed its a 480p PJ. That is obviously a budget constraint. As such, if we are not going to put a HD projector on the ceiling, guess what else we aren't doing? Hushboxes, extra studs, better seats, separate components, the list goes on. At least their heads aren't fully up their butts and they are going to do the treatments (more important than the rest of that stuff).

2. There is always more to a story than meets the eye. They were particular on the height of the riser - 8 inches - no more. As such, the screen is dropped as far is it will go. Even if I could, the Dreamy has a huge offset and the screen would have had to be about 18 inches from the floor in order to use no keystoning. Here's where I am probably going to creamed by you guys. Every day in every one of our jobs we must make sacrifices and decisions. I personally dont think its the end of the world to use a little keystone correction. Would I rather not use any? Of course. Does it kill the experience to use some? Hell no. Does the client even know the difference? No.

With those two points made, I will certainly say that if I had to do it again, I would do a better job on the speaker wall box placement. Thats for sure. Hey, at least the center box is in the center of the room. LOL!

Hey Brad, I dont see an emitter on either of your two Fujitsus? Are you putting it behind the eye by cracking open the case or are you just using ir from the remote for the plasmas?

I have had a long talk with Trainer Dave from Fujitsu about the stupid bubble they put over their ir receiver. Told him it needed to be flat like the ambient light sensor. I also told him he should do us one better and get with the times with a ir jack in the back.

His reaponse was that he will tell Japan about it and it will definately be different when the new ones hit. I hope so.

Also, where's the left speaker in the first pic?

[EDIT]: I now see the speakers tucked in the corners of the shelves. What is the speaker looking thing at the top of the right cabinet?

Finally, www.myupload.com has to be the easiest place to upload pictures for posting onto web forums like this one.

Hey, I paid you for that Furman piece. The check didn't bounce did it? LOL!

BTW - you can make that bet as I agree its a MX700. The ML500 Crestron piece is based on the MX800 with gold face and black thumbpad. That remote in the pic certainly doens't look like an 800 (see the blue ring around the thumbpad).

Two things, I hate URC because I have used them and because someone their in tech support basically told me I was a liar when I told him there was a bunch of threads detailing bad RF performance on RC, so I find it odd that you've never heard of this problem. I love being called a liar by a vender.

Second the remote in the picture is a MX700, this picture was taken while Crestron was having a firmware issue with the first ML500s, BTW they didn't call me names, they said we know there's a problem and were working on it.

Gary, what is the structure that everything is mounted in???

Robbie, I think I see a large metal tube going up from the corner of the structure. I bet that's how the cables are getting there!?

It's a floating wall, standard 2x4 framing, if you look at the top, there's 2 pipes running up to the ceiling. These are there for both support and to run cables, one contains power and the other LV. The gear is in a MA rack in a closet.

I gave the contractor a detailed drawing for the framing of this wall. It was laid out so the LR speakers would be beside the monitor. But he seemed to have problems following simple instructions.

Yes the monitor is level and centered and so are the speakers. The angle of the picture is a little odd.

Hey Gary... no need to get your panties in a wad, I was just giving you a little ribbing over seeing the 700, since you have made it so very clear you are an RTI fan...agree about the speakers (needing to be left and right of FPD), but not the end of the world, still looks great, and I get the client is happy too. Good show!

I'm parcing it from the RS232 port of the B&K CT600 to the CP2e. I have my own macro, the Crestron one sucks.

What kind of Drape control are you using? And how is it interfaced & used (time of day, tied to A/V, tied to lighting scenes, etc..)?

Hunter-Douglas controled via relays, not my favorite way to do this. They can be controled from any touchpanel, remote and shut when the alarm is armed away.

These photos were taken with a very cheap digital point and shoot, my advise on amateur photography, turn off the flash, fill the frame. You immediately see improvement.

I have a very nice SLR but I don't get a lot of time for photography these days.

One of these days Jawz might fix the gallery, he's a pretty skilled photographer.

This is a "Hooker Furniture" popup plasma lift.

Runco CW-50MC Plasma TV
Triad InRoom Gold/Omni speakers wood matched to popup furniture.
The remaining equipment is in another room:
Integra DTR-6.5 Receiver
Integra DPS-5.5 DVD
Integra CDC-3.4 CD Changer
Dish 811 HD Sat receiver
Panamax Max-5100
JVC VCR
MX-850/MRF-300 (works...just barely...)
Xantech IR Contact Closure Modules for the lift control

The client's home office is in the room behind the plasma. The room dividers slide open and allow them to see the Sacramento River when the plasma TV is retracted.

This project was a retro with a budget of $20K so nothing too fancy but I thought for the price it turned out pretty good.

The top picture is the master bedroom with Kef's virtual 5.1:
LG 42" Plasma DU-42PX12X
KEF Kit 100 DVD Player/HTIB
HD DirecTV
Panamax PM8DBS-EX Surge Protector
Sanus Wall Mount w/Tilt
Harmony SST676 Remote

Bottom Pic is the 7.1 system in the lounge/media room:

LCR's are Kef HTS5001
In-Cieling surrounds are four Kef CI200QRII's
Denon AVR3805S A/V Rcvr
Denon 755S DVD w/DCDi
HD DirecTV w/Tivo
HSU STF-1 Subwwofer
PureAV Power Conditioner
Sanus Wall Mount w/Tilt
ALL AR PRO II Cables
Remote is currently the Denon learning remote that comes with the Rcvr, but it's going to be upgraded when he gets the budget.

Total came in at $19.5K including drywall repair.

And the media room sounds awesome!
