Wrapping up a system and client throws a wrench in at the last moment. We had planned on integrtating his son's Wii in the beginning. Wifi and Bluetooth, no problem since the Game Console is located in a rack in the HVAC room. Here comes the wrench.
Rock Band.
The Rock Band Game requires a USB cable connection to the back of the Wii Game Console. Needless to say the Rock Band Game comes with a 4 Port USB connector (drums, mic, bass and guitar) then a short 7ft (?) USB cable to plug USB 4 port into the back of the Wii Console.
What I need to do now is locate a USB Wall Plate that I can install into the media room for the kids to plug thier Wii 4 Port USB Connector into. From the USB Wall Port I then should then be able to run a USB cable to the Wii Game Console into the rack.

I thought I had saw a USB Wall Port at PARTS DIRECT, but no luck. RAM has some from Liberty I think. Any other ideas? One in Stainless Steel would be great to match the rest of their wall plates!

I need to get this thing ordered ASAP.

Hubbell makes a pass-through keystone as does Calrad. Both are a little awkward in the leviton frame but if your doing white, just use Hubbels frame. Personally, I'd do a balun - I don't like running long USB's and have never found CL3 rated ones anyway (I use baluns from the center of a conference table over to the display credenza...why risk it for $75 of parts...)

I like these types of units. I have used the ones from Liberty before and the only complaint I have is the USB cable in the well (behind the plate) really gets squished depending on how deep your wall is.

Just an FYI all of the cheaper cat5 USB extenders only support USB 1.1. The USB 2 extenders start at $600. Not that this should be an issue in this application.

Great info, ya'all!

Looks like the DataPro with the 15ft extension should do the trick for this application!

Your time was much appreciated, as always!

Neutrik also makes a D-sized USB connector which can be implemented into a wallplate.

http://www.neutrik.com/us/en/dataconnectors/203_1053537495/USB___Firewire_group.aspx

Also, look at the SCDX and SCM dust covers for the connection to keep them from getting gunked up.

In addition to the USB connectors which Kevin noted may be tight in the wall cavities... PanelCrafters (Liberty) and others will make customized plates with D-sized connector locations which allow you to use the Neutrik solution.

Switchcraft may have a copy as well..
