Another satellite post: Dish Pro 211

Anyone using this receiver? What Evil lurks in the control or operation? I may need to intergrate to one next week with a MX900.

I would rather they use the Pro 622 DVR or is there something better in the Dish Network Line up?

Control is going to be the same as any other Dish box. Its simply a NON DVR HD box, single tuner. No TV2, no RF only on TV2, etc. If you have existing files for a 622, they will work on this as well. If anything it should be more stable as it doesnt have a HD to crash.

Ive also heard that the ethernet ports are supposed to be hot in a few months (on the 622 anyway). If it actually happens or not is questionable. Its suposed to allow internet control of recordings, as well as external storage capabilities.

411, 211, and 622 are the only (current) options for HD. 411 and 211 are identical except for lack of ethernet on the 411. Not even sure they are still shipping 411's. Ive heard of a dual tuner HD NON DVR box, but dont think its out yet. They are coming out w a 722 soon, that is basically a 622 w a bigger HD and a black face.

Cool, I feel better now. I will get him to ask for the 722 and see what happens. The system goes up in a week or two.

I will talk him into the 622 though if the 722 doesn't make it in. Now that I look over my notes, he wanted to add a 32" in the master.

Are you wanting HD on that 32"? If so, neither the 622 OR the 722 will do HD on the TV2 output. You'd need a second box for the MB, be it 722, 622, or 211

No, I realize that is only composite and stereo audio. I wanted the RF remote for the Bedroom and the space savings in the cabinet.

The 722 has some changes internally that will allow it to decode HD content on Demand. The 622 which I had supported video on demand over IP (recently launched) but would not support HD content on demand over IP. Only control option is IR really, but never had any issues with it dropping commands.

The 722 is out already and is real nice..

There is also the capability to attach a External Hard Drive up to 750GB
on the 622 or the 722.

You can also hook up a RJ45 for ethernet on either on and order pay per views and soon will be able to tell your rx to record a show.

They also have a Dual Tuner with no hard drive for recording this is called the 222.

HD to one TV and Enhanced to the 2nd.
